POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
English Tutor:
To facilitate effective communication and comprehension in our tutoring lessons, we encourage those who are proficient in speaking an Asian language, specifically Mandarin, to apply. Tutors can choose what dates work for them, and we provide the lessons/curriculums and teaching material.
Curriculum Developer:
Developers help create our lesson slideshows using our template and an ESL curriculum.
Social Media Developer:
Developers create graphic design/illustrations/videos for our organization's social media.
FAQs
How will my hours get verified?
We have a thorough tracking system for all volunteers! Upon request, our organization will provide documentation of your service, letter of service verification with signatures, etc.
How are hours obtained for the different volunteer roles?
For positions that require submissions (curriculum & social media), we count hours based on those. Each type of media (story, post, etc) has a different amount of service time correlated to it; the same goes for curriculum lessons. For tutors, it’s based on the length of the classes and/or if they helped with anything else (translations, etc).
Is this volunteer opportunity all year long or just for a certain period of time?
We plan to have this run all year! :)
As a tutor do I need to prepare anything?
tutors will be given prep material and a checklist, they only need to prepare for their own lessons whether that be practicing, or adding more lesson activity.
Is experience needed to become a tutor?
No experience is needed to become a tutor! :)
